Behind the Blog

My name is Meisha and I'm the woman behind The Mixmatched Blog, a creative space filled with DIY tutorials, inspiration + most importantly community.

'Discover' was my word for 2020 and damn did I do that.

If you're like me and never thought in a million years that you'd consider yourself a #creative - well, grab a chair and join the circle my friend. I was so out of tune with creating...or maybe didn't even realize I was doing it every single day. Cooking, taking photos with my phone, picking out my outfits for the day - I was creating something. So after having this realization, I wanted to test the creative waters a bit more.

Last spring, I decided to begin a 30-day creative practice. I literally tried everything; painting, photography, colouring, crafting, looking at architecture around my neighbourhood + creating mood boards on #Pinterest + way more. I didn't realize that there were so many different mediums of creation. It was the most soul-filling experience I had ever been apart of.

Things moved real fast after that, I launched my biz, The Mixmatched, and created this beautiful Discovery Kit for others to share in the creative journey (seriously, these things were HOT sellers).

Unfortunately, I lost control of my account (ugh, #Instagram) and was left in a weird space, unsure where to go from there. Seriously, if it wasn't for this small, but mighty, community, I'm sure I would've let this go. I received SO many messages and photos of people creating...it was so beautiful and empowering. Like what...YOU are just out there creating and that's so powerful. So here I am - giving this another shot. This time, in blog style. I have a huge love for story-telling AND making things with my hands, so why not continue to share that with you. DIY + writing = bffs 4 life.

I'm excited to create with you!

Let me know in the comment section what inspires your creativity!
